Our Background
UONAUSAAD is a non-governmental organization, that strives to identify and uphold Ngwa history, beliefs, traditions, and culture.It was founded in the year 2018 by Deaconesses Mrs Otuodichinma Nwankpa, with the aim of empowering the daughters of the Ngwa community, both at home and in the diaspora. It was registered in New York,USA in 2019.
Umu Okpu Ngwu aims to create opportunities for women to become financially independent, have access to quality education, and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
The organization is headquartered in the Bronx, New York, USA, and is run by a dedicated team of professionals who are committed to furthering the organization’s mission.

Our Approach:
UONAUSAAD aims to achieve its mission through three key program areas: Education, Financial Independence, and Healthy Living. The organization provides scholarships to women who would otherwise be unable to attend school or further their education, financial assistance to start their own businesses and become self-sufficient, and access to healthcare services to promote healthy living.





OUR IMPACT
UONAUSAAD has impacted the lives of thousands of women and girls in the Ngwa communities. The organization has provided healthcare services to over 7000 women, educated over 300 girls, empowered over 600 women entrepreneurs. We embarked on our first medical Mission, during Pandemic and also provided palliative care to more than forty-nine (49) villages in Ngwa land.
Our Mandate
UONAUSAAD have several programs that are aimed at lifting women out of poverty, ignorance, and poor health, by giving them the tools and resources they need to succeed.
These programs include:
- Health and Wellness Program: This program is designed to meet the healthcare needs of women in underserved communities, by providing free and affordable health services, as well as promoting healthy lifestyles. Some of the services offered under this program include maternal and child health, family planning, HIV/AIDS prevention and control, and health education.
- Education and Literacy Program: The education and literacy program provides formal and informal education for women and girls, at all levels. The program seeks to eliminate illiteracy among females and create opportunities for girls to complete their education without discrimination. The program also offers vocational training and skill development programs to equip women with marketable skills and prepare them for entrepreneurship.
- Economic Empowerment Program: The economic empowerment program focuses on providing women with financial resources, business training and coaching, and access to credit and markets, to enable them to start and grow their businesses. The program also provides mentorship and networking opportunities to foster collaboration between women entrepreneurs.
